Beethoven's Virus - BanYa
Song Lyrics / Chart History / Artist Information
- Originally composed for the video / dance game Pump It Up
- A hugely popular arcade game, it has since been released for
X-Box and Playstation 2 versions
- Arranged and originally performed by Korean band BanYa, led by
Korean born self taught musician / composer Yahpp
- The name of the band originates with Yahpp’s appreciation of the
band Nirvana, taking the last syllable, “vana,” pronouncing it
“bana,” and adding part of his name, “Ya,” creating “BanYa.”
Yahpp has also been quoted as saying that since “Nirvana” means
something akin to “another realm,” he likens “BanYa” to a gateway
into this realm
- The melody and basis for the song was taken from the third
movement of Ludwig Von Beethoven's Piano Sonata #8, also known as
the Pathetique
- The work was composed in 1798, when Beethoven was but 27 years
old
- It is one of Beethoven's most enduring works, frequently
performed on the concert stage and well known to followers of
classical music
