• Written & originally performed by rockabilly singer / guitarist Dale Hawkins (born 8/22/38 in Goldmine Louisiana), he's also the first cousin of Ronnie Hawkins of "The Band"
• His version reached # 27 on the Top 40 charts in 1957
• Best known version was by Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR)
• The CCR version went to #11 on the charts in 1968
• It was the very first of 17 Creedence songs to reach the Top 40 charts
• It was the only CCR hit that was not written by John Fogerty
• The Rolling Stones also did a cover of this song, with the title "Suzie Q" (note the "z" instead of an "s")
• The version of Suzie Q performed by Oracle is done in a medley with several other CCR songs, so we do abridge the lyrics slightly.
