Weddings in 2007
Weddings are special.
Oracle performs at a lot of weddings during the course of a year.
We take pride in our efforts to ensure every wedding reflects the
personality of the bride & groom.
No two weddings are alike, and
we go out of our way to make sure we're not playing the same songs
at each and every wedding.
In the photo above, check out
that spectacular sunset on the Chesapeake Bay during the ceremony.
Does it get any more beautiful than that? That shot has to
rank up there as one of our favorites of the year.
To all of the brides and grooms
whose weddings we performed at in 2007, we'd like to extend our
sincere best wishes for a long and happy life together. Drop
us a line on your 25th wedding anniversary, & we'll come back to
play the party!

Weddings 2007 - Continued...
In 2007 we played for a diverse group of
brides and grooms throughout the course of the year. Some of
the weddings we did were elegantly formal. Others were great
gatherings of friends eager to flat out celebrate the weddings of
their friends.
Some were themed weddings, such as the sports
theme at a hotel up in Annapolis, a western theme at the American
Legion hall, and yet another that featured inflatable guitars for
everyone to jam with the band on.
What all of these weddings had in common was a
desire to reflect the personalities of the bride and groom, and to
celebrate the day with their family and friends.

Afterdeck - Pasadena Maryland
As we left the cold months of winter behind and moved into the
springtime we found ourselves back at several of our other regular
clubs.
One of these clubs we visited in May was at
The Afterdeck in Pasadena Maryland.
We did a few performances at Afterdeck over
the course of the year, although it was harder to find open dates
for them than in the past. Shown here are photos from several
of those performances.
You can view more photos from Afterdeck, and
zoom into a specific date by visiting the
Afterdeck
Photo Gallery and selecting the date you'd like to see.

Marley Boat Club
The end of April got us off to a good start
with the boating community with an appearance at Marley Boat Club's
opening weekend at the American Legion Post 277 in Baltimore.
|
|
Baltimore Yacht Club
May was also a fun month for the
Yacht Clubs, with Oracle appearing at the Baltimore Yacht Club's
Opening Weekend. The theme
for the evening was "Las Vegas", and what a great party it was!

Maryland Yacht Club
Not to be outdone, a couple of weekends later, in early June,
Maryland Yacht Club held their own opening weekend, with a Safari
theme.
These folks really know how to get into the spirit of FUN!

Laurel Lakes Concert in the
Parks
June 22nd was one of those dates
that we in the band always look forward to...an outdoor concert in
the parks.
Granville-Gude Park at Laurel
Lakes in Laurel Maryland provides the perfect spot for an outdoor
concert. The weather couldn't have been better...temperatures
in the 70s with a clear blue sky and low humidity.
We were fortunate to have on
stage not one violinist but TWO, with Anna (Annie) Britton joining
Nikki for a couple of numbers.
For more photos from this
incredibly fun performance, check out the
Laurel Lakes Concert Photo Gallery.

On
June 22nd we were pleased and privileged to participate in a benefit
performance at Our Lady of the Fields in Millersville, with all
proceeds going to help support the local USO.
Many of our troops rotate through BWI airport
on their way to and from deployments, and when the opportunity
presented itself to participate in their worthwhile endeavor we were
more than happy to jump in.
Over $2300 was raised and sent on to the USO
to carry on their mission.
You can head over to our
USO Benefit
Photo Gallery to see more pictures from the evening.
We're hoping that we can make this an annual
event, so keep your eyes peeled to the Calendar to see when the next
benefit might be scheduled.

California Inn - Laurel Md
The end of June saw the band
debuting at a club that has been a mainstay in the Washington area
for over 40 years. The
California Inn in Laurel has been hosting bands for almost as long
as anyone can remember. Formerly
known as "Randy's" California Inn, it changed over to "Cricket's
California Inn a few years ago.
Both Charlie and Steve have performed here with
other groups. Steve has actually performed here with no fewer
than FOUR different bands now.
The enormous dance floor at California Inn has
long been popular with the fans. Back in the 1970s they hosted
some of the best show bands in the country, and later on a country
theme brought advanced line dancing to the dance floor.
