As the afternoon turned to twilight, temperatures moderated down to the mid nineties...refreshing after the 104 it had hit earlier, and the crowds began to swell. We continued to consume water by the bottle and managed to keep everyone on their feet. Throughout the event there was Kay Harrison. The lady coordinating the entire event, supported by volunteer staff members spread throughout the park. It's important to remember that the entire event is paid for by donations. No tax dollars are spent to put on this magnificent production. But it does take an individual with the drive and determination to see that the job is done right, and that would be Kay. 2012 was Kay's final year coordinating the event. In the many years Kay has been managing the event there aren't many situations that she HASN'T encountered, from unruly kids to unruly weather. It has been our distinct pleasure to work with Kay going back to 2007 when she first brought Oracle Band on board, and we have been thrilled to be a part of the festivities ever since. We'd like to send a big shout out to Kay for a job well done!!! Click on any of the photos below for an enlarged view. |
